Lamar Odom Caught in Bars Hours Before Attending Easter Church Service Only 5 Months After Overdose Scare
Oh, Lamar. My heart aches for you and your family. I wish your struggle to overcome substance abuse wasn’t playing out so publicly, but in a way I suppose it is helping to show people how difficult the recovery process can be. There are ups and downs in every recovery journey, sometimes including relapses.
That what people close to Lamar Odom fear is happening after photos surfaced of the former basketball star in a bar during the early morning hours of Easter Sunday.
The images surfaced shortly after rumors that Odom and his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, may be reconciling when they were spotted together during an Easter church service. The duo denied these claims, laughing at the assumptions, but when evidence of Odom’s activities prior to church popped up, Kardashian was reportedly devastated.
While employees of the Irish pub say Odom was only in the building for about two hours, they also reported that he ordered three Remy Martins during that time frame.
Lamar’s October overdose has people understandably concerned about his behavior; though the incident was attributed to cocaine and herbal Viagra, it resulted in multiple strokes and organ damage which continues to affect him today. Consuming alcohol in his current condition could set back his physical recovery as well as any sort of progress made in his journey to sobriety.
Of course, we’ve also heard reports that Odom is adamantly resisting rehab- despite his brief stint in a private facility after his release from the hospital. He even reportedly summoned his drug dealer to his hospital room at one point.
Now following the revelation that he was drinking early Easter morning, Kardashian is demanding he enter rehab once and for all– and Odom is still refusing.
While Lamar is doing well in his physical rehab sessions, he is still adamant in his belief that he does not need to undergo a substance abuse rehabilitation. According to reports, Kardashian has even attempted to convince him to enter outpatient treatment, but the former NBA player will not budge. He maintains that his drinking will not cause a relapse into drug abuse.
The trouble is that alcohol can be a trigger for drug abuse or relapse. While no one can force him to enter rehab, I really and truly hope someone gets through to him before something terrible happens.
Do you think Lamar can drink casually without relapsing into cocaine abuse? Let us know what you think!
