Miami Cop, Mike Muley, Fights to Regain His Job After Drunkenness on the Job
How would you feel if you saw a local officer in full uniform drunk at a local bar downtown? It would be concerning wouldn’t it? Well it was for Miami bar natives of Mango’s Tropical Cafe, where off-duty officer Mike Muley consumed copious amounts of alcohol, eventually vomiting, spurring concerned patrons to contact the local police department to have the officer removed. We know officers have the right to have fun- but not in uniform, and certainly not on the job. While it’s true officer Muley was serving as a security guard on his off hours at the establishment, his behavior defamed the sanctity of the Miami Police Department. Since the incident, he was on paid time off- that is, until the department decided to fire officer Muley.
If Muley’s behavior is indicative of an alcohol use disorder, the department should recommend officer Muley for alcohol rehab immediately. There were reports, according to Photography Is NOt a Crime, Officer Muley was playfully waving his gun while intoxicated. Muley consumed more than four drinks during his time at Mango’s Tropical cafe, with a recorded alcohol count of .088.
Officer Muley was eventually fired, and is now fighting to regain his position as an officer of the law. There is security footage of Muley “vomiting, stumbling, dirty dancing with a woman, and playfully drawing his gun,” as stated by Photography Is Not a Crime. Muley’s attorney is arguing Muley suffers from a medical condition which fomented his vomiting, as opposed to his alcohol consumption.
