Shia LaBeouf Arrested in Austin, Texas
Actor Shia LaBeouf has had an interesting few years: legal troubles, drama, internet memes, and rehab stents. His behavior has been erratic and questionable at times, with many speculating that drugs and alcohol are the cause.
So, what’s the latest in the string of strange events for the actor?
Shia LaBeouf was arrested in Austin, Texas for public intoxication. Admittedly, it’s not the strangest thing he’s done (“JUST DO IT!”) as of late, but the story itself if concerning.
According to the Statesman, the arresting officer felt Shia posed a threat to himself and others due to his actions. The incident occurred on October 9th when a bouncer refused to allow LaBeouf and his two female companions into a bar due to their clear intoxication. There was a verbal altercation involving the bouncer which ended in LaBeouf and his companions left and began wandering the streets of Austin, which were already busy due to the music festival being held at the time.
Apparently the officer spotted LaBeouf jaywalking across moving traffic, holding his hand out to three cars as if directing them to stop for his crossing; one of these cars was the officer’s squad car. When the officer activated his emergency lights, Shia began to back away but stopped when instructed. According to the affidavit the smell of alcohol was apparent, Shia’s speech was slurred and his eyes were “glassy and dilated.”
Things took a turn when Shia told the officer he typically walked away from the police because a friend was killed by a police officer, for which I could not find any prior information. After this point, the arresting officer stated LaBeouf began “puffing his chest and walking in an aggressive and threatening manner” toward a bystander who was filming the incident. The officer intervened and Shia turned on him, screaming “do whatever the (censored) you have to do!”
At this point LaBeouf was determined to pose a threat to himself and others and arrested. Is he another victim of his former child actor status like Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes? Could it be that his childhood experiences have lead to a life of substance abuse and manic behaviors? While we can’t assume too much, there is certainly something much deeper behind the madness.
