Man Swims Seven Hours To Avoid Drug Arrest

In California, a man high on drugs, swam for seven hours in the ocean off the San Diego coast to evade capture and arrest by police. He had been wanted on a felony drug warrant, but after his lengthy time at sea, decided to finally surrender to authorities.

Police officers approached John Michael White, 46, as he was walking on the street near the beach. Apparently, the man was quite the swimmer and spent seven hours swimming in 64-degree waters in the middle of the night. Soon, he was surrounded by police officers, lifeguards, the Coast Guard and the Navy Shore Patrol.

A police special dive team was called in and he was finally subdued when one officer on each side of White pulled him under the water and restrained him. In addition to the original drug warrant, White now faces resisting arrest charges.
